Desiree LaVertu is the director of the Women’s Glee Club and co-director of the combined Glee Clubs at California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena, CA.  Additionally, she is on the voice faculties of both Chapman University in Orange, CA, and the summer master’s degree program at California State University, Los Angeles.  She is the vocal coordinator and is on the choral faculty of the Idyllwild Arts Summer Program festival choir.  Previous to her work at the university level, she was choir director at Ramona Convent Secondary School, an all-girls college preparatory school, for ten years.  She was also assistant director of Children’s Choirs at All Saints Church, Pasadena, for two years.

Ms. LaVertu is a professional soloist and voice teacher in the Pasadena/greater Los Angeles area.  She sings in the Donald Brinegar Singers, and was a founding member of the professional female vocal quartet “Diva Complex.”  She received her Bachelor of Music in Accompanying from California State University, Fullerton, and acquired two teaching credentials in music from California State University, Los Angeles.  She received her Master of Music in Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance from the University of Nevada, Reno, where she studied with Bruce Mayhall and Donald Brinegar.
