RON ANDERSON, M.M, Ron Anderson holds degrees in Piano Performance, Opera, and Composition, and has enjoyed success in all three endeavors. In addition to his long list of operatic roles, he has been regularly featured as soloist (both as a pianist and a vocalist) with several orchestras throughout Southern California, including Torrance Symphony, the Marina Symphony, the Cypress Pops Orchestra, and the Redlands Bowl. This past year, Mr. Anderson has performed as soloist in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Mozart's Mass in C minor, and Bach's "St. John Passion", and sang the role of Noye in Britten's "Noye's Fludde", performed with the Chancel Choir of First United Methodist Church of Pasadena, where he serves as Baritone Soloist and Section Leader. His own choral compositions have been included among the repertoires of this and other choirs, and have won competitions and critical acclaim. His symphonic fanfare, "Citius, Altius, Fortius" was premiered last year with the Cypress Pops Orchestra and won 1st Prize in the MTAC Composers Today Competition. In 2006, Mr. Anderson again won 1st Prize, this time with his "Gethsemane" for string quartet. Mr. Anderson has taught at LA City College and LA Trade Tech College, and has done guest teaching at CSU, Long Beach. He also teaches at Yamaha Music School and his private studio, which has produced several winners in Composers Today, MTNA and other competitions. He is also in demand as an adjudicator in a variety of musical disciplines, and has judged for the MTNA Composition Competition and the Composers Today Evaluations. Mr. Anderson is the State Chairman of the Young Composers' Guild, a program for aspiring professional composers. |
