Catalog year 2009 and beyond:Students awarded a merit scholarship upon admission to the JD program may renew their merit scholarship during their second and third years, if a GPA of 3.00 or better is maintained during their first and second years. Students who become eligible for a scholarship in an amount larger than their initial award will be given the larger award. Part-time students may renew their scholarship for their fourth year as long as they remain in the part-time program and 3.00 GPA requirement is maintained. Scholarships are applied to the fall and spring terms only and cannot be applied to summer or interterm courses. Full-time students who did not qualify for an entering merit scholarship are eligible to earn a scholarship their second or third years according to the chart below. Part-time students who did not qualify for an entering merit scholarship may be eligible to earn a scholarship for their second, third, or fourth years based upon the the chart below. (“Earned Scholarship” chart.) Cohort group will be determined by Law Registrar in accordance with published policies. Part-time students who move into the full-time program are limited to three years of scholarship eligibility only, no scholarships will be offered for the fourth year of courses. The Law Registrar will publish the GPA cut off for the top 5% and top 10% once the full-time rankings are completed in the spring. Full-time students who lose their scholarship their second year may be eligible to earn a scholarship their third year based upon the chart below. Catalog years 2007 and 2008:Students who are awarded a merit scholarship upon admission to the JD program will renew their merit scholarship during their second and third year if they maintain a 3.00 GPA or better during their first and second year. If due to their ranking and the chart below, a recipient becomes eligible for a scholarship in an amount larger than his or her initial award, the larger award will be given. Students who did not qualify for an entering merit scholarship will be awarded one their second or third year according to the chart below. Students who lose their scholarships their second year due to not maintaining a 3.00 GPA will be awarded one their third year according to the chart below.

Catalog year 2006Students who are awarded a merit scholarship upon admission to the JD program will renew their merit scholarship during their second and third year if they rank in the top 30% of their class. If due to their ranking and the chart below, a recipient becomes eligible for a scholarship in an amount larger than his or her initial award, the larger award will be given.
Students who did not qualify for an entering merit scholarship will be awarded one their second or third year according to the chart below.

Determination of who is classified as a 2L or 3L student and student ranking is made by the Registrar in accordance with School of Law policies. First year students are ranked with their entering class for the purposes of scholarship consideration. Except in the case of error, scholarships will not be adjusted due to any re-ranking adjustments made after the initial spring rankings are released. |
