Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships

Description:		Established to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries, these scholarships fund study abroad in a country where there is a Rotary Club.

Eligibility:		Applicants must be citizens of a country in which there are Rotary Clubs and must have completed at least two years of college-level coursework or equivalent professional experience. Applicants cannot be Rotarians or employees of a club or Rotary entity and cannot be the spouse or descendent of a member or employee. Applicants must be proficient in the language of the proposed host country and are expected to be outstanding ambassadors of goodwill in that country. Participants are also expected to share the experiences of understanding acquired during their overseas experience in the United States (by appearances at Rotary Clubs, schools, civic organizations, and other forums).

Award:		Award types include: Academic Year: This scholarship offers funding for one academic year in another country, covers round-trip transportation, tuition and fees, room and board expenses, and some additional supplies (up to approximately $26,000 or its equivalent). Multi-Year: This option offers funding for two years of degree-oriented work. A flat grant of $12,500 per year can be applied toward the costs of a degree program.

Deadline:		To apply through the Orange Rotary Club, the deadline is typically between mid-April and May 1 of the year preceding planned study abroad. Final decisions are made in November and December. For instance, students apply in the spring, receive a final decision in the fall, and study abroad the following year.
