Presidential Management Fellowships

Description:

The Presidential Management Fellowship Program was created to attract outstanding men and women to the Federal Civil Service. It seeks applicants from a variety of academic disciplines and career paths who have a clear interest in, and commitment to, excellence in the leadership and management of public policies and programs.

Eligibility:

Eligible applicants are graduate students who are in their final years of an advanced degree (master's degree, law degree, or doctoral-level degree) who will complete the degree by August 31 of the year in which they apply. The following fields are recommended: Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Information Technology, Environmental Science, Engineering, Math or Statistics, Public Policy, Administration, International Affairs, Law, Health and Medical Science, or Human Resources. Criteria for selection include breadth and quality of accomplishments; capacity for leadership; commitment to excellence in the leadership and management of public policies and programs; analytical problem solving; written communication; and selected Office of Personnel Management competencies. Rating/ranking of finalists will include consideration of past military service.

Award:

Recipients embark on paid, two-year fellowships with the federal government. These fellowships are full-time positions with a full benefits option and accelerated promotion potential. Recipients also have the opportunity to participate in the Federal Student Loan Repayment Program. The program also offers non-competitive appointment to full-time, permanent employment upon successful completion of the program.
