George J. Mitchell Scholarships

Description:		Sponsored by the U.S.-Ireland Alliance, the George J. Mitchell Scholarships are designed to introduce and connect future American leaders to Ireland, while recognizing and fostering intellectual achievement, leadership, and a commitment to public service and community. These awards fund one year of post-graduate study in any discipline offered by institutions of higher learning in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Eligibility:		Applicants must obtain a bachelor's degree before the commencement of the program. Applicants must also demonstrate a record of academic excellence and intellectual distinction, an outstanding record of leadership, and a sustained commitment to service and community. U.S. citizenship is also required, and applicants must be 18 years of age or over and not yet 30 years old on October 1 of the year applying.

Award:		This scholarship provides tuition, housing, stipends for living expenses and international travel, and transportation to and from Ireland or North Ireland.
