The Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowships

Description:

This program, funded by the U.S. Department of State (and administered by the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation), offers funding for students who wish to pursue master's degrees in public policy or international affairs (or in academic programs relevant to international affairs, such as economics, business, political science, sociology, or foreign languages). 

Service Requirement: Each successful candidate is obligated to a minumum of three years of service as a foreign service officer for the U.S. Department of State.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for this program, applicants must be U.S. citizens and must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement. An applicant's G.P.A. must be at least 3.2, and this grade point average must be maintained throughout the program. Applicants must be seeking admission to graduate school for the following academic year and must be in academic programs relevant to international affairs, political and economic analysis, administration, or management. Applicants must also meet Department of State Foreign Service entry requirements.

Award:

Successful candidates receive tuition, room, board, and mandatory fees for the first and second year of graduate study, with reimbursement for books and for travel (one round trip per academic year, up to a set maximum amount).
