These fellowships offer support for full-time graduate study at any accredited U.S. or foreign university. A recipient's chosen program of study must lead to a research-based master's or doctoral degree in a field related to science, mathematics, technology, or certain social sciences. With this fellowship program, the National Science Foundation hopes to ensure the vitality of the human resource base in these fields and to reinforce the diversity of this base. |

Eligibility: |

Eligible applicants are college seniors, first year graduate students, and others who have completed a limited amount of graduate study in science, mathematics, or engineering. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens. Women, minorities, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. |

Award: |
|
A successful candidate receives three years of support for graduate study. Stipends are determined annually; currently the annual award is approximately $41,500 (including a $30,000 stipend, a $10,500 allowance for tuition and school fees, and a $1,000 travel allowance). |
