Configuring Whitelists and Blacklists for Webmail
Chapman's Webmail application allows you to specify e-mail addresses that you do or do not want to recieve e-mail from. This is done through the configuration of blacklists and whitelists. If e-mail is sent to you from an address on your blacklist, it will not be allowed into your mailbox. Conversely, e-mail from addresses on your whitelist will always be allowed, even if it would normally be blocked by something else, such as a spam filter. This tutorial explains how to set up your white and blacklists in Webmail. |
Accessing your whitelist and blacklist settings:
STEP 1:
When you log into the Webmail application with your Chapman e-mail account, you will be shown your Inbox. Above the mail messages is a link called Options, which will take you to Webmail's settings page.
Click on the Options link. |

STEP 2:
You will be presented with several choices on this page. Select the SpamAssassin Configuration link, which is found in the lower left section of the page. |

STEP 3:
At this point, you will be viewing the General Options section of SpamAssassin. Click on the Email List Management link.

Adding addresses to your white and blacklists:
When you first arrive at the Email List Management page, you will be presented with the form for adding addresses to your whitelist. Remember that the whitelist is the list of e-mail addresses which you want to allow.
If you don't want to add any addresses to your whitelist, skip to the next step.
If you want to add an e-mail address to your whitelist, type the address in the space between the word "Whitelist" and the words "Add Entry".
After you have entered a single e-mail address you want to allow, click the Add Entry button. The address you have added will then appear below the entry form with the word "blacklist" next to it.
You must repeat this process for each e-mail address you want to add to your whitelist. |

To change the form to edit your blacklist instead of your whitelist, click the down arrow to the right of the word "Whitelist". This will display two options to choose from: "Whitelist" and "Blacklist". Click the "Blacklist" option. |

You should now be seeing the form which allows you to add names to your blacklist.. Remember that the blacklistlist is the list of e-mail addresses which you want to block.
If you don't want to add any addresses to your blacklist, skip to the next step.
If you want to add an e-mail address to your blacklist, type the address in the space between the word "Blacklist" and the words "Add Entry".
After you have entered a single e-mail address you want to allow, click the Add Entry button. The address you have added will then appear below the entry form with the word "blacklist" next to it.
You must repeat this process for each e-mail address you want to add to your blacklist. |

Removing addresses from your white and blacklists:
If you decide you do not want an e-mail address on your whitelist or your blacklist, you can remove it from the same page you added it. When removing addresses, it does not matter whether you have "Whitelist" or "Blacklist" selected.
To remove an address from your list, click the checkbox to the right of the address. You can see whether the address is on your whitelist or blacklist by the label to the left of the address. You can select any number of addresses this way. After you have checked the box for each address you want to remove from the list, click the Remove Selected button. The selected entries will disappear from your screen. |

When you are done adding or removing items from your white and blacklists, you may log out of the Webmail application or click on the "Inbox" link on the left panel to return to your Inbox.
