Connecting to Chapman Wireless Network Getting Started Be sure to turn-on your wireless connection first! There should be a small switch or a hot-key combination to enable the wireless communication. Check your laptop manual for more information. Right-click on the Network system icon located near the speaker icon.
Select “Network and Sharing Center” from the menu.
Select “Manage wireless networks” from the menu on the left of the Network and Sharing Center. Click on the “Add” icon to manually add a wireless network connection.
Click on “Manually create a network profile” from the list. Type in the information as show below: Note: Chapman University wireless network is not secure! *For CUC campus ONLY, the information is as follows: Select "Connect to...Open th connect to a network dialog so I can connect". Congratulations! You are now connected to the Chapman Wireless Network! You should now see your newly created connection listed in the wireless connection manager:
Make sure you have enabled wireless communications on your laptop. Check your laptop manual on how to do this. Open “Network and Sharing Center” Click on View status associated with the wireless network.
Click on the “Properties” button. Click “Continue” when the User Account Control pops up.
Make sure that “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” has a check mark. Next, select it and click on the “Properties” button.
Just like before, be sure that there are dots on “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain DNS server address automatically”. Click on “OK”, “Close”, “Close” to exit the properties pages. |
