Configuring a Windows XP or Windows 2000 computer for the ChapNet Dialup (MODEM)
These instructions will allow any Windows XP or Windows 2000 computer to be configured for dialup to the Chapman University Servers.
If at any time you have questions regarding these steps, call the Network Hotline at x6600.
First of all you need a Windows XP or Windows 2000 computer, a modem, and a phone cable.
| Open up Internet Explorer. Click on Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab -> Add |
 |
| Afterwards, click "Dial-up to private network", then click NEXT |
 |
|
Check the "Use dialing rules" checkbox. The area code and phone number for ChapNet is (714) 244-5000. If you are using dialup while on the Chapman University campus, the area code and phone number is (714) 9-244-5000. (The "9" allows you to dial an off campus phone number.)
Click "NEXT". |
 |
| Type in the name you want for this connection. When you are done, click "FINISH". |
 |
|
Check "Use Automatic Configuration Script", "Use a proxy server".
AUTOMATIC CONFIGURATION SCRIPT:
You need to type this in exactly as it is here
/proxy/oncampus.pac
For User name type use your Chapman Email address without "@chapman.edu"
example:
doe123@chapman.edu
you would type in "doe123" instead of the whole thing.
Next type in your password.
Leave the Domain empty.
Click "OK". |
 |
|
Your Internet Options Box should look something like this. Click "OK".
The dialup configurations are now complete. |
