o    The committee received an update on the launch of the CSAC website as well as the upcoming launch of the new Chapman Community Suggestion Box.

o    The committee also discussed:

§   The results of the Staff Retreat survey as well as the tentative agenda for the 2009 Staff Retreat

§   2008-2009 Staff Forum schedule

§   2008 Staff & Faculty Holiday Party

§   The need to create staff emails prior to new hires arrival.

 

 

2007-2008

  • April 7, 2008
    • The committee received an update on the staff retreat as well as the staff forums, and discussed the development of the CSAC website.
    • The committee also discussed:
      • Per diem rate for staff who travel as part of their position
      • Use of outside catering vendors
      • Alternative work schedule for summer

 

  • January 31, 2008
    • Met with the new Executive Vice President & COO, Harold Hewitt, to get a sense of his background and leadership style.
    • The committee also discussed:
      • Obtaining a new chair for the Holiday Jubilee
      • 2008 Staff Retreat agenda
      • Staff Forum schedules
      • Proctoring faculty evaluations
      • Creation of a staff webpage that would provide links to the university’s forms that staff use on a daily/weekly basis.

 

  • September 19, 2007
    • Met with Behzad Binesh to discuss a number of questions including the use of Dashboard and submitting reimbursement requests electronically.
    • The committee also discussed the following topics:
      • 2007 Staff Retreat results
      • Staff Suggestion Box
      • Creation of a Staff Manual for individual schools/departments
      • Flex holidays
      • Calendaring Rooms
      • Development of Staff Forums

 

2006-2007

  • May 30, 2007
    • The committee discussed 1) the staff retreat agenda, 2) the creation of a staff suggestion box, and 3) their major accomplishments for the 2006-2007 academic year.
    • The Chancellor provided a lengthy update that incorporated all the changes the university would be making.

 

  • January 24, 2007
    • Chancellor announced a new policy that requires background checks for new employees.
    • Met with Brenda Dunbar to discuss staff positions, salary ranges, promotion, and merit increases as well as updating the Staff and Administrative Handbook
    • The committee reviewed and discussed the proposal to establish a staff retreat.

 

  • October 20, 2006
    • Discussed many topics including:
      • Publishing position titles, descriptions, and salary schedule
      • Providing opportunities for safety training for staff (first aid and self-defense)
      • Implementing the Staff & Faculty Holiday Party
      • Establishing a rideshare policy

 

  • September 29, 2006
    • Discussed many issues and concerns including:
      • Possibility of an alternative work schedule for staff
      • Increased staff training
      • Creation of an annual retreat
      • Putting financial services forms online with possibility for online approval
      • Creation of a time bank
      • New Staff Orientation procedures
