EVENT DESCRIPTIONS

The success of the oCPP program for each student is dependent on the individual commitment made to participate and fully engage in the services and events sponsored by the oCPP. Such participation, combined with a rigorous academic program, ensures each student comes away with a well-rounded understanding of business skills, and how those skills can most effectively be packaged and marketed to employers regardless of size, location, or industry. The following represents the beginning of what will be an ever-growing number of programs designed to assist students as they explore and define individual career goals:

Distinguished Speaker Series

During the course of each academic year, prominent Orange County business leaders are invited to the Argyros School of Business and Economics as keynote speakers. The purpose of the Distinguished Speaker Series is to provide ASBE students with insights into business challenges, opportunities, and personal accomplishments of high profile public and private sector figures.

Mentor Business Associates Program

The Mentor Business Associates Program matches MBA and EMBA candidates with business executives in the Southern California region. Students are provided career guidance through planned social events and informal interactions with selected mentors. This program allows candidates to gain valuable insight into what it takes to be a successful business professional. Students also learn how to effectively utilize networking skills for their career campaign.

Dinner-for-Eight

Our Dinner-for-Eight program features the opportunity for local businesspeople to share their personal stories of success with MBA students in an intimate dinner setting. Students are given the opportunity to listen to real world business issues and advice on effective career decision-making tools that have influenced the host business leader.

Biz Snapshots

Organization representatives will lead discussions designed to give Argyros students information about their companies. Students will be provided with an overview of the company's hiring practices, culture, management philosophy, and strategic goals. Our Biz Snapshots program serves as an opportunity for businesses to market the needs of their organizations to talented students.

Day-on-the-Job Program

This on-site job-shadowing activity gives Argyros students a first-hand look into a company's daily management, operations, and competitive marketplace strategies. These half-day corporate visits take place at companies with offices, headquarters, or operations located in Southern California.
