Advice from Janine:
There’s a college for every student out there who wants to pursue higher education. When you are looking at schools ask lots of questions, visit lots of campuses, and don’t get intimidated by price tags! I didn’t do much research when I was applying for colleges and I ended up at a place that wasn’t a great fit for me. Don’t worry…I ended up transferring to Whittier College which was a perfect fit, and I can’t stress enough how much happier I was after doing more research and finding a place that offered what I was looking for. Think outside the box when it comes to applying to colleges, and most importantly be excited! College is going to be a great life changing experience so don’t let the application process become too overwhelming or stressful…that’s what I’m here to help with!

Janine's favorite spot on campus:
Without a doubt my favorite space is the Chapman University Columbarium. It’s very peaceful and sacred.

Janine's best admission memory:
During Orientation an incoming Freshman student that I had been working with over the phone and through email all year met me in person for the first time. He proceeded to tell me that he was surprised because he figured I was an old lady! I have decided to interpret this comment to mean that he found me to be extremely wise, which obviously comes with age.

Janine's best college memory:
I had a professor who taught Public Administration through having class discussions on current events. This meant that every single student had to come to class every day fully briefed on that day’s newspaper. It was a challenge…especially since the class started at 8 am! However, when the class was finished I had a “light bulb” moment when I truly realized what a liberal arts education was all about.
