Program Review Procedures and Timeline

April

  • Office of the Chancellor notifies department/school of program review
  • Workshop and planning meeting on program review conducted by Office of the Chancellor

May

In consultation with the Dean and Office of the Chancellor, Department/School will provide:

  • List of main issues/questions from Program Review Guidelines it will address in program review
  • Nominations for external reviewers
  • A program review coordinator, committees, and writers

September

  • Department/school will conduct initial faculty retreat/meetings on program review
  • Department/school compiles department/school documents/information for program review
  • Department/school selects possible dates for program review site visit consultation with the Dean and Office of the Chancellor
  • Office of the Chancellor provides institutional data for program review to department/school
  • Office of the Chancellor provides instructions to department/school for format/submission of program review self-study report
  • Office of the Chancellor selects external reviewers for program review in consultation with the department/school and Dean and sends letters of inquiry/invitation
  • Department/faculty conduct program review self-study 
  • Department/school prepares/submits its program review self-study report to the Office of the Chancellor

November

  • Department/school makes preparations for site visit
  • Office of the Chancellor provides access to program review report/documents to external reviewers

November - February

  • Two-day site visit of external reviewers
  • External reviewers submit external reviewers’ report to the Office of the Chancellor
  • Office of the Chancellor sends the external reviewers’ report to the unit and the Dean

March 

  • Department/school consults faculty, prepares/submits its response to the external reviewers’ report to the Dean,  Assessment Committee, and Office of the Chancellor

April

  • Assessment Committee and Long Range Planning Council and prepares advisory reports on department/school program review and sends them to the Faculty Academic Council (undergraduate) or Graduate Studies Council (graduate)
  • The Faculty Academic Council (undergraduate) or Graduate Studies Council (graduate) sends finalized prioritized recommendations to the Office of the Chancellor.

Summer

  • Office of the Chancellor prepares and sends report/recommendations on department/school program review to the unit, the Dean, and the Assessment Committee/Academic Council

Fall

  • Department/school submits a final timeline/action to implement the recommendations  as determined by its program review to the Office of the Chancellor
