Program Review Procedures and Timeline
April 1-June 1
- Office of the Chancellor notifies department/school of program review
- Workshop on program review conducted by Office of the Chancellor
- Planning meeting on program review held with Vice Chancellor/Dean
June 1-September 15
- Department/school provides list of main issues/questions from Program Review Guidelines it will and will not address in program review following consultation with the Dean and Office of the Chancellor
- Department/school provides list of required department/school documents it will prepare in program review following consultation with the Dean and Office of the Chancellor
- Department/school submits nominations for external reviewers for program review in consultation with the Dean and Office of the Chancellor
- Department/school selects program review coordinator, committees, and writers following consultation with the Dean and Office of the Chancellor
- Department/school schedules/conducts initial faculty retreat/meetings on program review
- Department/school compiles department/school documents/information for program review
- Department/school selects possible dates for program review site visit in consultation with the Dean and Office of the Chancellor
- Office of the Chancellor provides institutional data for program review to department/school
- Office of the Chancellor provides tabbed binders and instructions to department/school for format/submission of program review self-study report
- Office of the Chancellor selects external reviewers for program review in consultation with the department/school and Dean and sends letters of inquiry/invitation
September 15-January 1
- Department/faculty conduct program review self-study
- Department/school prepares/submits four copies of its program review self-study report to the Office of the Chancellor and retains two copies (one for the Dean and one for the academic unit)
January 1-February 1
- Department/school makes preparations for site visit
- Office of the Chancellor sends program review report/documents to external reviewers
February 1-April 1
- Two-day site visit of external reviewers
- External reviewers submit external reviewers’ report to the Office of the Chancellor
- Office of the Chancellor sends the external reviewers’ report to the unit and the Dean
March 1-May 1
- Department/school prepares/submits its response to the external reviewers’ report to the Dean, Assessment Committee, and Office of the Chancellor
April 1-June 1
- Assessment Committee prepares advisory report on department/school program review and sends it to the unit, the Dean, and the Office of the Chancellor
June 1-September 1
- Office of the Chancellor prepares and sends report/recommendations on department/school program review to the unit, the Dean, and the Assessment Committee/Academic Council
September 1-December 1
- Department/school develops, revises, and submits a final timeline/action plan/strategic plan, budget request, curriculum proposal, and/or assessment plan as determined by its program review to the Office of the Chancellor and the Assessment Committee/Academic Council
