Biography

Kari Hayter is a professional director and educator based in Southern California. Most recently she was nominated for the 28th Annual LA Stage Alliance Ovation Award Best Direction of a Musical for both Parade for Chance Theatre and Urinetown, The Musical for Coeurage Theatre Company. She was also nominated for the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for theatrical excellence in 2016 for Direction of Urinetown, The Musical. Kari is a member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, the Theatre Communications Group, California Educational Theatre Association, and the American Alliance of Theatre and Education. Most recently she directed Los Angeles Critic's Choice and Ovation Nominated Parade, Los Angeles Critic’s Choice and Ovation Nominated Violet, and assistant directed Once at South Coast Repertory.  Kari teaches directing, acting, musical theatre performance, and musical theatre history.
