Liberal Studies
Teacher Preparation

The Liberal Studies Teacher Preparation program has been carefully developed to prepare you to teach in the elementary classroom, integrating comprehensive State teaching standards and individualized instruction.  Our interdisciplinary coursework combines a solid academic foundation with opportunities for early classroom experience and a capstone component which enables you to forge vital connections in learning that you will carry with you into the classroom.  Students planning to teach in an elementary setting will pursue a Multiple Subjects Credential.  For students planning to teach in the middle or high schools, the program offers support for obtaining your Single Subjects Credential.  You may be able to begin credential classes in your junior year.

Students in our program also benefit from ongoing advisement and support to assist them in planning their education with their personal goals and circumstances in mind, such as pursuing a credential as an undergraduate, a semester abroad (see Study Abroad website), participation in sports or student government, or a double major.  We are dedicated to educating the whole person.  We are committed to providing a comprehensive curriculum that offers you the knowledge, skills, and guidance needed to prepare you for a lifetime of sharing with young minds.  For more information, contact the College of Educational Studies Program Coordinator, Donna Cucunato.
