Kelly (Graydon) Kennedy joined the faculty of the College of Educational Studies in 2007. She teachers primarily in the School Counseling and School Psychology graduate programs. Dr. Kennedy's courses include school psychology practicum (fieldwork), group counseling, multicultural counseling, assessment (doctoral level), and research methods (doctoral level). She has also taught a travel course (interterm to Guatemala in 2010), and is planning another for the summer of 2012 (Cambodia and Vietnam). In addition to mentoring M.A. and Ed.S students, Dr. Kennedy works with students in the Ph.D. in Education program, as a mentor and dissertation committee member and chair.
Dr. Kennedy's scholarly interests include: grade retention, program evaluation, best practices in alternative education settings, delinquency, recidivism of juvenile offenders, strength-based school psychology, culturally competent practice, LGBTQ students, and the international practice of school psychology. She is a member of CASP-V (the Consortium to Advance School Psychology in Vietnam) and has facilitated a training workshop on school psychology in Ho Chi Minh City. Dr. Kennedy has recently co-authored a book on school-based supports for LGBTQ students (Responsive School Practices to Support Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning Students and Families), which will be released in early 2012.
