Kenneth Tye is Professor Emeritus in Education at Chapman University. Before retiring from Chapman in 1993, he taught in the School of Education, was Chair of the Education Department and briefly was Assistant Provost for International Programs for the entire University. At Chapman, he has specialized in teaching comparative education and curriculum classes in the Master of Arts in Education program.
Prior to going to Chapman in 1984, Ken spent 14 years as Program Officer for the Institute for the Development of Educational Activities, an educational research center affiliated with UCLA, and Directed by John Goodlad. Prior to that he was a social studies teacher for five years and a site administrator and curriculum specialist for seven years.
Ken received his BA degree from San Francisco State, his MA degree from San Diego State, and his EdD from UCLA. He also attended Yale University for an NDEA Institute in African History and Ethnology.
Ken has traveled extensively throughout the world and has worked for short times in several countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and in Australia and New Zealand. He has written extensively, including several books, periodical articles, and chapters in books, many of them about global education. He was the editor of the 1991 ASCD Yearbook, Global Education: From Thought to Action. His most recent paper publication was Global Education as a Worldwide Movement, Phi Delta Kappan, October, 2003. He recently developed an Internet website, The Global Yellow Pages, which is a directory of approximately 1,000 organizations in the U.S. and Canada that provide global education resources for K-12 teachers.
