Exams prior to entrance to Multiple, Single, or Special Education Credential Programs (or enrollment in 500 level or above credential course work):
California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) The purpose of the CBEST is to assess and verify acceptable proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics skills in the English language, basic educational skills that are needed and used by all school practitioners.

General Test The test measures skills that have been developed over a long period of time and are not necessarily related to any particular field of study. When you register for a GRE test, ETS will send free test preparation material to you. The free test preparation material can also be downloaded from the GRE Web site at http://www.gre.org/pracmats.html.
