Lorena was born in Mt. Shasta, California at the base of a 14,162 ft mountain. When she was younger she wanted to be a sports medicine physician, but upon enrolling in college fell in love with the profession of athletic training. "One of my first days at Santa Rosa Junior College, I attended an Introduction to Athletic Training course taught by Byron Craighead," explains Lorena. "His enthusiasm was so overwhelming – I was hooked." Lorena's position with Chapman's clinical athletic training staff is the culmination of many years of studying and pursuing an appointment as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the university level.
Lorena's hobbies include virtually all outdoor activities, including cycling, swimming, snowboarding, basketball and soccer, which is no surprise, as she played soccer at Santa Rosa Junior College for two years. Currently most of her activities center on training for Olympic distance triathlons.
