Kristin Beavers, Director, Global Education

Kristin Westervelt Beavers (M.A.) was hired at Chapman University in 2001 to manage academic domestic internships and soon found herself developing the university’s first stand-alone summer international internship program. One location grew quickly to five international locations so she transferred to the Center for Global Education as Assistant Director and program manager for international internships and exchange programs. Now, as Director of Global Education at Chapman, she oversees strategic planning and operations for the Center for Global Education and globalization efforts of the university’s two campuses. She served on the International Council of Advisors for the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) for six years, and is now serving an additional 3-year term as Chair. Kristin holds membership in NAFSA, Forum on Education Abroad, EAIE, Diversity Abroad and Global Leadership League. For Chapman, she is a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group on the Status of Women, previously serving as co-chair. She holds a Master of Arts in Management from the University of Redlands and speaks enough French to get herself in trouble.

Daniel, born and raised in Alhambra, CA, studied Global Studies and Spanish at UC Santa Barbara. Having previously studied abroad in Argentina and taught English in Costa Rica and Colombia, he returned to California to study Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs at USC where he focused his research on first-generation Latino men in education abroad. His hobbies include soccer, Settlers of Catan, and hanging out with friends. Daniel’s favorite movie is Kindergarten Cop,

Jean Lawson joined the Center for Global Education team bringing expertise in student relations, financial analysis, development of organizational procedures and guidelines, and service. Before coming to Chapman University, she worked in Financial Accounting and provided administrative support to Corporate Executives. Jean received degrees in accounting and Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton. Furthering her commitment to personal growth and development, she acquired a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Leadership from Chapman College with a Certificate in Organizational Development. Jean’s natural ability to collaborate and build relationships with colleagues allows her to meet our entire community's needs effectively. Outside of work? She loves to SUP, create new memories with family/friends, paint with watercolor, and travel!

Jodi Hicks (M.A.) began her career at Chapman University in 2011 at the Center for Global Education. Her motivation to pursue a career in international education started with her first study abroad experience in London and second experience in Thailand as an undergraduate student at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She participated in a short-term abroad program in Tanzania while obtaining her Master of Arts in Social and Cultural Analysis of Education from California State University Long Beach. Jodi was selected to serve on two Diversity Abroad Task Forces in 2019 and 2020. Jodi was been a member of the International Communities and Socio-economic Stratification Advisory Groups at Chapman. She is a study abroad certifying advisor for the Gilman Scholarship at Chapman. Jodi served as content chair for the Lessons from Abroad Los Angeles Conference from 2014-2019 and was on the content committee for the virtual nationwide conference in 2020. Jodi was selected for the Fulbright Taiwan International Educators Seminar in March 2018. She has traveled to over 40 countries and her favorite travel item for
Henry Carey, Global Education Advisor
Henry, originally from Charleston, SC, earned his BA in International Affairs and minored in Global Business at the University of Colorado Boulder. After graduating, he served as the faculty assistant on a study abroad program in Aix-en-Provence and Marseille, France where he connected and strategized with French startups and MNCs. He loves to speak French and is an avid Duolingo user (currently learning Portugese). His favorite show is Better Call Saul.
Andrea Storey, Global Education Advisor
Andrea Storey (M.A.) joined Chapman as a Global Education Advisor after teaching secondary Spanish in the Chicago suburbs. She studied abroad for the first time when she was 17, and she has spent a total of 8 months on international education trips to Spain, Fiji and Ecuador and Costa Rica. Her master's degree is in Latin American Literature and Culture from Northeastern Illinois University with a focus on educational equity. She's passionate about the benefits of multilingualism and learning about different cultures around the world. Outside of work, she enjoys testing new recipes in the kitchen, crafting and home gardening.
Angelique Acuna, Administrative Assistant
Angelique joined the Center for Global Education as a Peer Advisor in 2021. After graduating Chapman with a B.A. in Film Studies and Art History in 2022, she became the Administrative Assistant at the office. She has always had a passion for world travel and had the opportunity to study abroad in Spring 2022 in Paris, France with CEA Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. In Paris she studied Modern Art and visited many museums. Her favorite museum to visit in Paris was d’Orsay. Additionally, she is a huge Survivor fan and has watched every season. She will find any reason to talk about it.
