Headshot of Chapman Admission Counselor Summer Blair Biography in Brief

Originally a New York native, Summer travelled across the country to attend Chapman University, graduating in 2017 with a B.A. in Strategic and Corporate Communication, with a minor in Law, Justice, and Social Control.

During her four years at Chapman, Summer was involved with the Black Student Union, Greek life, and a recreational dance team. Her experience working in the Admission office as a Tour Guide and Fellow, and her passion for helping students and families, led her to pursue a career in college admissions.

In her free time, Summer enjoys cooking, solving puzzles, watching Vine compilations, and reading.

Advice from Summer

Be kind with yourself, not only during the admission process but everyday. Make sure your mind, body, and spirit are taken care of and everything that should happen will! As RuPaul says, “If you can’t love yourself how can you love somebody else?”

Favorite Spot on Campus

We are so fortunate to have such a beautiful campus. My favorite spot would be the fourth floor balcony of Beckman Hall where you get the best aerial view of the piazza, the library, Musco and the new Keck Science center. The view is especially gorgeous at sunset.

Best Admission Memory

Working as a tour guide as an undergrad student enabled me to spend personal time with students and families as I shared with them my knowledge of the campus as well as my experiences.

I was fortunate to be utilized as a resource for the Office of Admission and was able to attend a welcome reception for newly admitted students in my home state of New York, where I talked to a family that was nervous about their student making the move to the West Coast on their own.

After sharing my experiences, they took my recommendation to travel and visit campus themselves, where I was able to see them again. They felt much more assured about their child's decision to come to Chapman and it was so rewarding seeing how excited the student was to start school.
