If you like history, dining, antiques shopping, malls or cultural attractions, visit this beautiful city, known as a “major city with small-town ambiance.” Old Towne Orange is also a hot spot for filming movies and television shows.

Hometown Hero

Kevin Staniec ’01 has a vision of making Orange County a seminal destination for the arts and he won’t rest until his dream becomes a reality. He founded 1888 Center, a nonprofit cultural and literary arts hub, located a few blocks from campus in Old Towne Orange, and was honored with the Arts Leader Award by Arts Orange County. Home to Disneyland Resort and the county’s professional sports teams, this city was first made famous by its wine grapes in the 1800s. Anaheim is also the 10th most populous city in California.

Huntington Beach

Huntington beach is known for its surfing.Also known as “Surf City,” Huntington Beach is known for its mild climate and the fact that it hosts the US Open of Surfing — and countless other surfing events — each year, attracting some of the top surfers from around the world. Huntington Beach is also known for hiking and wildlife viewing at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. While you’re here, be sure to check out the pier, which stretches more than 1,800 feet into the ocean.

Laguna Beach

Beautiful scenic beach at Laguna Beach in southern California, just a short drive away from Chapman University.This city gained a reputation as a beachfront resort over a hundred years ago. In the 1900s, the community became known for being one of the county’s biggest art colonies. And if 75 art galleries isn't enough, you can always explore the breathtaking views of the town's green hills and beautiful beaches.

Leadership opportunities abound at Chapman University; take every chance you get to hone your skills and grow into a leader. Just a short drive from Chapman University's Orange Campus.Both the largest and most populous city in Orange County, Santa Ana boasts not just the financial and governmental center of Orange County, but also a revitalized downtown area complete with a museum and art center. Santa Ana also contains retail, housing, the Santa Ana Civic Center, the Ronald Reagan Federal Building and a historic courthouse you may have seen on American Horror Story.
