Research Interests

Dr. Bisoffi’s research program includes two major directions: (1) The exploration of markers of field cancerization in prostate tissues. This project includes (i) the identification of molecular aberrations (genetic and biochemical) in tissues adjacent to adenocarcinoma; (ii) the molecular mechanism(s) underlying field cancerization of solid tumors; (iii) the use of markers of field cancerization as biomarkers of disease. (2) The exploration of natural product based synthetic analogs against prostate cancer. This project includes (i) the identification of novel diferuloylmethane (curcumin) analogs with anti-proliferative, anti-migratory, and anti-invasive capabilities; (ii) the identification of diferuloylmethane analogs anti-androgen receptor down-regulation capability in different cancer cells; (iii) the determination of the mechanism(s) of action of diferuloylmethane analogs in prostate cancer cells.
