Dodge College Course: Producing Commercials
Marla Friedler-Cooper began her career at American International Pictures before landing a job at one of the world’s most prominent ad agencies, Chiat/Day. She has over 20 years of experience in film production and advertising, and has produced a host of public service announcements and commercial campaigns featuring an array of celebrities. Of her personal favorite projects, Friedler-Cooper fondly remember working with Harrison Ford (“who is a wonderful person in ‘real life’”) on a commercial campaign, traveling to Italy to sell a low-budget film, and producing a salsa dancing DVD in Cuba.
Friedler-Cooper “absolutely LOVES teaching”, and is happy to share this passion with her students. Commercial production is a tough world, but “work hard, have fun, and be nice to the people you work with,” she advises. “More work will come because of it!”
