Professor Berry joined the Chapman faculty after serving on the faculty at the University of Washington School of Law and practicing law on both coasts. She practiced regulatory law and litigation at Latham & Watkins’ Washington, D.C. office, and specialized in complex litigation at Perkins Coie LLP, in Seattle, working on issues ranging from business torts to a successful pro bono constitutional challenge to state term limits. Professor Berry also was a Perkins Coie Community Service Fellow with TeamChild, a nonprofit organization providing civil legal advocacy for at-risk youth. Professor Berry received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law, where she served on the editorial board of the Northwestern University Law Review. After law school, Professor Berry served as a law clerk to The Honorable Terence T. Evans, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, and The Honorable David B. Sentelle, U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. She holds a B.A., cum laude, from Tulane University (Newcomb College) and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Professor Berry’s research and writing focuses on administrative law, statutory interpretation and judicial decision-making. She teaches Administrative Law, Environmental Law, Environmental Justice Seminar and Torts and is the Director of the emphasis program in Environmental, Land Use and Real Estate Law (ENLURE).
