» Monthly Desktop Calendars

This April, Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences invites you not just to save the earth (Earth Day is April 22), but to prepare for its end. Don’t give into the pandemonium, join the movement and plan for Surviving the End of the World. Interstices 2017 will feature a discussion on disaster scenarios and how to survive them with bestselling author Max Brooks and The Walking Dead’s Sarah Wayne Callies. Download the April desktop calendar below… before it’s too late!

Social Media Strategy at Chapman University

High School students are our future undergraduate (and graduate!) students—but reaching them can be a challenge. Last April, the Science and Technology programs wanted to reach high school students with a passion for the sciences through Instagram. Strategic Marketing and Communications proposed combining efforts in a single account, @ChapmanSciences, to share content from the collective science programs within Schmid College of Science and Technology, the Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences and the School of Pharmacy. The single Instagram account has had a diverse and engaged audience since it launched in April 2016 (see infographic below).

Another winning game plan was a Facebook video series to generate awareness for the opening of the Center for Science and Technology. Content was created in collaboration between Strategic Marketing and Schmid College of Science and Technology then posted on both Chapman University and Schmid College of Science and Technology’s Facebook pages. The first video had a reach of 40,000+ people, was viewed over 19,000 times, and received 855 clicks. This led to a 104% increase in page visits to the Center for Science and Technology with 64% of all traffic coming from Facebook.

What are your challenges and social questions? We are eager to promote your programs in creative ways to reach future students and collaborate with your team. If you’d like to learn more, or discuss opportunities to increase engagement and awareness through your current social efforts, contact your account manager and organize the madness!

+ - February 2017

In this month’s calendar, we feature a special moment shared between two Chapman University alumni. Amanda (Thompson) Anderson, B.A. History and Political Science ’12, and Joren Anderson, BFA Cinematography and Film/Video Production ’13, announced their engagement with a photo shoot in Atallah Piazza. The couple met while attending Chapman University and selected Chapman Alum Nathan Worden as their wedding and engagement photographer.

Please note: No holidays are observed by Chapman University in February.

Events at Chapman University

When planning a special event or occasion, have you considered Chapman? Our experts in Institutional Event Management will help you select the right space and rentals to create an unforgettable experience. The team coordinated over 7,000 events last year, and over 3,200 since August 2016!

Anything outside of the classrooms that requires space or a rental—conferences, special events, parties, gatherings, meetings—are all coordinated through Institutional Event Management. The team oversees every detail: from event space, rentals, film shoots, guest speakers, and conferences to event tickets, insurance, and liability information. Beyond the sporting events, conferences, meetings and lectures, the team plans weddings, family reunions, and even remembrance events.

Learn more about the 85 classrooms, 8 multi-purpose rooms, and 4 outdoor venues on the SMC Knowledge Base. Contact the event’s team to request a Chapman Family Discount and enquire about your next large fete: Institutional Event Management and Operations.

Institutional Campaign

In A Word became our institutional campaign in January of 2015. The designs showcase a single word that describes Chapman, include a striking image, and a highlight an aspect of the University. The award-winning campaign can be seen and heard throughout the Southland.
