Torben Aaskov '91, '93 is originally from Denmark and began his studies at Chapman University (Orange Campus) as an exchange student. He completed his BA with a double major in International Business and Business Economics before continuing his education in pursuit of an MBA. He was involved with the International Club on campus and also played for the Chapman Soccer team his senior year.
Torben has attended numerous Alumni events over the years and is excited to join the board. He hopes to bring an international angle to the board and is interested in getting involved with activities promoting Chapman internationally, as well as working to help current students from abroad.
Torben's wife, Dr. Melinda Zaccagnino Aaskov, is also a graduate of Chapman. She earned her Bachelors and Masters degree in Psychology (‘92,’95). She went on to earn her PhD in Psychoanalysis from Newport Psychoanalytic Institute in spring 2006.
Torben has extensive experience in the international marketing industry and among others worked 6 years as the Senior Trade Officer with the Danish Consulate General in Los Angeles. He is the owner of TradeWorks LLC, an international sales company marketing consumer products to distributors and retailers worldwide. In the U.S. marketplace, TradeWorks specializes in European specialty foods & beverages as well as unique non-food items. TradeWorks customers include some of the nation’s best-known specialty food distributors and retailers like Trader Joe’s, Cost Plus World Market & IKEA. Tradeworks is also involved in promoting American consumer products abroad. The focus is on assisting manufacturers with setting up distribution for their products overseas. Tradeworks has strong contacts in Europe, Canada and Mexico.
