The City of Orange

"A Slice of Old Town Charm"

Experience the charm of a bygone era when you visit the city of Orange. In this unique community, you will encounter a turn-of-the-century, hometown atmosphere rarely found in bustling Southern California.

This gem of a community has many facets. Hollywood location scouts have made Orange a popular backdrop for movies such as That Thing You Do, Crimson Tide, Accepted, Small Soldiers, Big Momma's House, and The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle, as well as numerous TV series and commercials.

Home of Chapman University and the Santiago Canyon Community College, Orange is also a college town. Chapman University, Orange County's largest and oldest independent university, has become a hub of educational and cultural activities for the community.

Not to be forgotten are the abundant opportunities within the city for shopping, dining, playing and staying …

Shopping
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Old Towne Orange is home to more than 50 antique shops, 10 antique malls and 10 art galleries. The antique capital of Southern California, the Orange Plaza offers vintage furniture and memorabilia, as well as unique gifts.

With more than 3-million square feet of retail space in the city, you'll find treasures of every variety in specialty shops, major retailers and regional malls.

Dining
Among an eclectic array of fine restaurants, pubs and casual eateries, you will find just about any food you desire—breakfast (all day) at the '50s-style soda fountain inside Watson's, fresh and healthy authentic Thai cuisine at Bebe's Café, a snack and freshly brewed beer at a microbrewery in the historic train depot, coffee or a fine meal at P.J.'s Abbey Restaurant (a beautifully restored Victorian-era church built in 1891). For a real sampling of culinary delights, plan on visiting during the Orange International Street Fair held every Labor Day weekend, which features food and entertainment from around the world.

Playing
With 16 city parks and three regional recreational areas, historic walking tours and biking trails are close to almost anywhere you choose to stay in Orange. The city also offers a sport park, fishing, biking, horse trails and the largest badminton facility in the United States, Orange County Badminton Club. Listen to music at the concert festivities hosted by the city at Hart Park throughout the summer months. For avid golfers, several regional golf courses are located within a few miles of the city. Since Orange was recently listed as the eighth safest city of its size in the United States, you can feel comfortable and secure enjoying the many outdoor activities available in the area.

Staying
The City of Orange offers nearly 1,000 hotel rooms. Included are those in highly acclaimed establishments such as the DoubleTree Hotel and Hilton Suites. Since the city is located midway between Los Angeles and San Diego, in the heart of Orange County, you won't find a better "hub" for your vacation excursions. Orange is only 20 minutes from county beaches and minutes away from Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Crystal Cathedral, Honda Center and Angel Stadium. You can also venture to the local mountains and deserts, including Las Vegas, because they are all easily accessible from the enchanting city of Orange.
