As you prepare for your transition to law school, it is important that you carefully explore the area to secure adequate housing. Chapman University’s main campus in Orange has some on-campus housing, the majority of the space is dedicated to undergraduate students. The following applications may be used to get on a wait list for on-campus housing: Chapman University Houses or Glassell Street Apartments. These options are limited and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Students will be contacted if/when their name comes up on the list. The off-campus housing resources provides information about off-campus housing, including rental listings. The Greater Orange County Metropolitan Area encompasses several municipalities, including the City of Orange, where Chapman University is located, Irvine, Santa Ana, Anaheim, Tustin, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, and Laguna Beach. The majority of law students typically commute to the Law School in their private vehicles. Student parking is available in the parking structure located directly behind Kennedy Hall. Orange County, like other metropolitan areas in Southern California, can be an expensive place to live depending on your personal tastes and needs. The average monthly rent ranges from $700 to $900 for apartments, $1200 to $1800 for houses, and $300 to $600 for rooms to rent. Sharing the cost of rent and utilities may offer the advantage of reducing your personal cost of living expenses. The Law Admissions Office has an off-campus roommate form that is available upon request at (877) CHAPLAW. The roommate contact form authorizes release of your contact information to other admitted law students who also completed the form. However, each student is personally responsible for initiating contact with any potential roommates.

Current law students have reported that their key resources for finding housing have been the classified section of local newspapers, such as the Orange County Register or the Times- Orange County edition. The Apartment Guide, which is typically available at local supermarkets, provides area maps and detail information about local apartments is generally provided at no cost.
