AMVETS Legal Clinic
Notable Cases

Cases handled by the AMVETS Legal Clinic include a wide range of legal issues, including auto accident cases, VA claims, family law matters, disability claims, breach of contract actions, and much more.  Below are a few highlights of recent cases handled by the Clinic.

• The Clinic represented a soldier suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome and traumatic brain injury in his military disability proceedings and recovered a 50%, permanent disability retirement, with lifetime benefits of millions of dollars.

• The Clinic represented a wounded soldier in his military disability proceedings and recovered nearly $30,000 in a separation award.  (Before we were involved, the Army planned to separate the soldier without disability benefits.)

• The Clinic assisted in receiving a 100% disability rating from the VA for a veteran with PTSD.

• The Clinic negotiated a $25,000 award in an auto accident involving a veteran.

• The Clinic procured a $1,100 award from the VA related to problems with the VA’s calculation of  benefits.

• The Clinic filed several TSGLI appeals on behalf of wounded troops including one who is paralyzed.  We are waiting for dispositions.

• The Clinic represented the spouse of a soldier in conservatorship proceedings where the soldier is physically and mentally disabled from combat.

• The Clinic represented a veteran in his claim against a third party who agreed to perform work, accepted payment, but then did not do the work.
