AMVETS Legal Clinic
Chapman/Berkeley Soldiers Project

In August 2009 Chapman University School of Law and University of California at Berkeley Law School launched the Chapman Berkeley Soldier’s Project, an exciting new partnership in which students at Berkeley will participate in Chapman’s AMVETS Legal Clinic to represent veterans and active duty troops in a variety of civil legal claims. As part of this program, Professor Kyndra Rotunda, who heads up Chapman’s program, has been appointed as a Lecturer at Berkeley. She will share the AMVETS Legal Clinic model and assist in training and supervising Berkeley Law students participating in the program.

The partnership was reported in an in-depth story in the August 18, 2009 Los Angeles Daily Journal entitled “Law Schools Pool Resources to Offer Legal Help to Military.” The article reported on the new cooperative effort between Chapman, Berkeley, and San Diego law schools working on the joint-effort clinical project. In the article, Chapman Law Dean John Eastman noted that “the clinic will be the first to be operated jointly by multiple schools.”
