As we upgrade classroom AV systems over the coming years, we may be removing some of the VHS players. If there is adequate room on the AV rack and adequate inputs on the switchers, we will leave the player until it is no longer available. VHS players are being phased out, are no longer manufactured, and are difficult to purchase. If you are in need of VHS playback in a room without one, we will happily bring a portable to your class. This can be arranged by calling or emailing us. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The rooms that no longer have VHS players are:

Leatherby Library B3, B12, B13, B14, B16, B17

Beckman Hall 101, 102, 104, 106, 107, 203, 204, 205

Smith Hall 202, 204, 215, 216, 217

Kennedy Hall 142, 147, 152, 237A

If you are in need, we can also assist you with transferring VHS material to DVD when allowed by copyright law.

CLASSROOM AUDIO VISUAL SYSTEMS

Our classrooms, with a few exceptions, are permanently equipped with the following equipment and capabilities.

Ceiling mounted video/data projector
Dedicated Personal computer
VHS playback
DVD playback, either through the PC or a DVD deck
Auxiliary composite video, with audio, inputs
Laptop video and audio inputs
Overhead transparency projector
Front wall or ceiling mounted speakers

We have two basic configurations for the control of the equipment in these rooms.

MEDIALINK BUTTON PANEL CONTROL

These rooms have an equipment rack in the front corner of the room. At the top of the rack there is a button panel that allows you to turn the ceiling mounted LCD projector on or off, choose which input source you want to display, and adjust volume.  There is also a button panel that will control VCR and DVD functions.  This button panel replaces the hand held remotes that come with these decks.

TOUCH PANEL CONTROL

These rooms have a color touch sensitive panel, usually mounted in an instructors console, that will allow you to turn the ceiling mounted LCD projector on or off, choose which input source you want to display, and adjust volume.  Many of these panels will also raise and lower projection screens and window shades, as well as adjust light settings.
