Stan Kenton Alumni Band to perform at Chapman University
Led by Mike Vax, alumni from the 1956–1978 Stan Kenton Orchestras come together to perform at Chapman University on March 12, 2010. Chapman Big Band will also perform.
The Stan Kenton Alumni Band tours around the United States every year, and performs some of the well-known music of the Stan Kenton Orchestra, carrying on his tradition of dedication to creative music and jazz education.

Associate Professor and Director of Opera in the Conservatory of Music, Dr. Peter Atherton has been chosen by Dean William Hall to be the first recipient of the Robert and Norma Lineberger Chair in Music.
Dr. Atherton has had an international operatic and concert career performing throughout the United States and Europe. He was chosen by Broadway legend, Hal Prince, to perform on Broadway in The Phantom of the Opera where he performed six different roles. For the past eight years Dr. Atherton has been a member of Operafestival di Roma where he has sung leading bass roles.
This summer, he directed Operafestival’s mainstage production of Le Nozze di Figaro. | |
