The 34th Annual Tournament will be held February 20-21, 2009
The Henry Kemp-Blair Shakespeare Festival is an annual event hosted in February by Chapman University's Department of Theatre. All California high schools are invited to participate. The tournament consists of Scene and Monologue Presentations. We also conducted some fun workshops this year. We ask that schools to attend both days to get the full impact of the program. Advanced registration is required. All presentations are to be drawn from the first folio of William Shakespeare.
Our goal is to provide high school students with an opportunity to experience and learn more about performing Shakespeare. To emphasize the tournament's focus on education, we offer actors' and design workshops. We award theatrical books and certificates for outstanding male and female monologues, outstanding scenes and individual performances within scene presentations.
