Eric Chimenti, MFA Chair, Department of Art Head, Graphic Design program Associate Professor of Art
Nearly four decades ago Professor Chimenti began making art. At age four he was a "drawer." Over the years, his skills grew and he advanced to a dresser, and eventually became the armoire he is today.
Professor Chimenti has worked for design agencies and advertising firms, and continues to run his own freelance business. He is also the Chair of Education for the Orange County Chapter of AIGA, the professional association for design in America.
Professor Chimenti has created illustration and design spanning many industries and for many clients, among them TPAC Underwriters, Inc., AIGA, North American Title Corporation, IYEO Japan, Xengaru Fun Foods, BVRC Law, National Arbor Day Foundation, American Racing, Tone Software, Orangewood Children's Home, Pioneer, Fieldstone Communities, City of Santa Ana/SAPD, Sunset Lighting Services, Superior Wall Systems, JLM Corporation, Orange Coast Title Company, Benjamin Group, General Assembly PCUSA, Minder International, North American Title Company, Fluid Research Corporation, Balboa Instruments, Sage Software, Azel Publishing, Global Cellular, Insight For Living, Honda, Southern California Edison, Peach State Public Radio, USDA, The Georgia Guardian, Cash Flow Magazine, John Wayne Airport, Western Medical Center and Chapman University. His design philosophy is to join idea to image, image to type, arranging all the elements into a cohesive whole that communicates to the intended audience. Good Gestalt. He turns information and communication into art, arranging, illustrating, designing, embellishing for various projects and clients, and teaching students how to do the same.
Since the last century, Professor Chimenti has been instructing students in art and design. He places heavy emphasis on strong conceptual design and gaining an understanding of technical procedures, teaching students to create professional art that communicates effectively.
