Transfer Students
Fall 2009
Academic Advising is not required for new transfer students, but it is highly recommended. Advisors can review your program evaluation to determine which courses were transferred, and how they are being applied to your degree.
Advising Options:
- Online Advising: An online tutorial will be available for those students who are out of the local area, or who are comfortable receiving important information in an electronic environment. The tutorial will cover all of the same information as a one-on-one appointment with a professional advisor. Follow-up phone appointments with an advisor will be available for students who have additional questions. The tutorial will be available for students starting May 11.
- Appointment with a Staff Advisor: Students may schedule an individual appointment with a professional advisor. Appointments are one hour in length, with the first 45 minutes dedicated to reviewing the student's program evaluation and suggested first-term courses. The last 15 minutes of the session will be spent with a peer advisor who will assist the student with navigating WebAdvisor, Chapman's online course registration system. Appointments will be available for new students starting May 11. To schedule an appointment, call the Academic Advising Center at 714-744-7959.
- Appointment with a Faculty Advisor: Students also have the option of scheduling an appointment with a Faculty advisor in their major department, to discuss the specific requirements for the major, research or internship opportunities, or career goals. Please note that Faculty availability is limited during the summer months. To schedule an appointment with a Faculty advisor, students should call the department directly.
Important note for Music Majors: All transfer music students should meet with a Faculty advisor in the Music Department before meeting with an advisor in the AAC.
