I came to Chapman in the summer of 2010 as the specialist advisor for Schmid College of Science.  Prior to coming to Chapman, I served as the Coordinator of Academic Probation and Disqualification Services at Cal State Fullerton, where I was responsible for coordinating early intervention advising workshops for over 1000 first-time freshmen on academic probation as well as the advising and tracking of more than 1200 students disqualified annually.  Prior to working at CSUF, I was the Assistant Director of the Student Access to Science Center at Cal State Long Beach.  I am a strong student advocate and committed to facilitating student success.  I believe that working with students is a privilege and an honor, and I look forward to working collaboratively with you as you pursue your academic, personal and professional goals at Chapman.  In my spare time I enjoy kayaking at the beach, SCUBA diving, and hiking with friends.

I earned both my B.A. and M.A. in American Studies from Cal State Fullerton where I also worked as an academic advisor prior to joining Chapman University in late 2007.  My primary duties at Chapman are to assist Dodge College students with meeting all of their requirements so that they may graduate in a timely manner.  Outside of advising I am interested in US cultural history and the built environment and may one day pursue a Ph.D. in order to student these things further.  For the time being, however, I find great pleasure in reading, writing, photography, cycling and drinking coffee.

I came to Chapman University in 2002 as an undergraduate student and pursued coursework in various majors until finding a passion for public relations and advertising.  I graduated with my B.A. Public Relations and Advertising in 2006 and my M.A. in Counseling and Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling here at Chapman.  Before coming to the Academic Advising Center I worked in the Academic Affairs Office in the Office of the Chancellor for three years.  During that time I helped to establish and develop the Chancellor's Student Advisory Board and was a recipient of the Chancellor's Staff Enhancement Grant in 2009 for my Academic Integrity Awareness Campaign.  When I am not working, I love to bake so don't be surprised to find cookies when you stop by my office!  I also like to read, shop, and spend time with my family and friends.

I have been at Chapman University since 2007 as an academic advisor for undergraduate students and the specialist advisor for business students.  Born and raised in Los Angeles, I attended Cal State Long Beach and graduated with a B.A. in Communication Studies with a minor in Cross Cultural and Academic Development.  During my undergraduate studies, I began to realize how much I enjoyed working with college students through a variety of programs and offices like EOP and the advising center, so I decided to continue my studies in higher education.  I earned a Master's in Education with an emphasis in College Student Affairs from Azusa Pacific University.  I live in the Los Angeles area and in my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  My biggest enjoyments include traveling, cheering on my favorite sports teams (Lakers and Dodgers, like every Angeleno!) and of course shopping!

I hold a B.A. in Liberal Studies and Sociology from the University of LaVerne and a M.Ed. in Counseling and Personnel Services with an emphasis in College Student Personnel from the University of Maryland.  I most recently servced as an academic advisor in the College of Arts and Humanities at the University of Maryland while pursuing my masters degree and discovered my passion for Student Affairs as an undergraduate at the University of LaVerne through my involvements as a Resident Assistant, sister of Iota Delta Sorority, member of the Latino Student Forum, and Peer Advisor for the Liberal Studies program.  I am happy to be back home in Southern California and look forward to working with Chapman students to help them achieve their goals and get involved with co-curricular opportunities.  I love to travel (I drove my car from Los Angeles to Washington, DC!), spend time with family and friends, and my all-time favorite TV shows are Friends and The Simpsons.

Academic Advisor and Testing Administrator

Welcome!  I am a native Californian and grew up in Los Angeles and Cerritos.  I attended Cypress College, UC Irvine and the University of LaVerne earning a B.S. in Public Administration with an emphasis in Urban and Land Use Planning.  I'm also a Chapman alumna with a masters degree in Organizational Leadership.  I have a diverse employment background that includes 12 years in city government, 3 years working at Disney and 4 years working at Cal State Fullerton before coming to Chapman University in 2000.  I've had the opportunity to work in interesting jobs such as an Assistant to the City Manager and City Council, Grants Coordinator, City Planner, Planning Commissioner, Occupational Trainer, Administrative Assistant (School of Education and Provost's Office), Testing Administrator, and Academic Advisor.  I hope you will take this from my educational and employment background: the road to your career is not a straight path in which you earn a degree and land in the job of your dreams.  I hope to help you navigate your academic requirements and learn more about yourself through the variety of your experiences while here at Chapman.  I'm also a proud mom to two college young adults; my daughter just graduated from Mount St. Mary's College with a B.S. in Biology and my son is a U.S. Marine.  An outdoors kind of person by nature, I enjoy outdoor activities such as gardening, walking, picnics and camping.  I also enjoy traveling because it allows me to experience different cultures, meet new people and taste different foods.
