ExCEL PEER FACILITATION PROGRAM: The ExCEL (Explore-Challenge-Educate-Lead) program is an intensive facilitation training that prepares students to become leadership facilitators for on-campus organizations and groups. Request a facilitator here.
SERVICE-LEARNING TRAVEL COURSE TO NEW ORLEANS: This leadership experience took place during Interterm 2010; there were 11 students who dedicated their January to learning about leadership while rebuilding homes in New Orleans communities badly damaged by Hurricane Katrina. The 8-day service experience in New Orleans is part of a 4-credit leadership course (LEAD 325: Civic Engagement Initiative) that integrates theories of leadership with national service. LEADERSHIP DIALOGUE SERIES: Campus and community leaders serve as guests for small-group dialogues on specific topics related to leadership and incorporating their personal experiences. Space is limited and advance sign-ups are recommended. See a list of upcoming Leadership Dialogues via this link.
LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP SERIES: Skill development workshops presented weekly by ExCEL Peer Facilitators. These 1-hour workshops require no advance sign-up. A list of topics for past and current workshops is available via this link.
LEADERSHIP ACADEMIES: These intensive, extended-involvement, topic-specific experiences enable students to learn about specific areas of leadership while participating in experiences related to each topic. Advance registration is required. The Spring 2010 Academies include: First Year Associates Leadership Academy and Sustainability Leadership Academy.
OMICRON DELTA KAPPA NATIONAL LEADERSHIP HONOR SOCIETY (ODK): This national leadership honor society, founded in 1914, recognizes students for superior scholarship, leadership and exemplary character. Junior and Senior students with high levels of achievement in academics, athletics, and campus and community service, social and religious activities, campus government, speech and mass media, and the creative and performing arts are eligible for membership.
