State Aid
State Grants The state of California offers Cal Grants to qualifying undergraduate students who are residents of California and have graduated from a California high school. Award is based on financial need and GPA. You must have your GPA Verification form sent to the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) by March 2 each year. If you have completed at least 24 units with Chapman University (including transfer units accepted by Chapman) prior to March 2, we will send this information automatically to CSAC for you every year you are attending at Chapman.
State grants require that you file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the March 2 priority deadline each year. For more information on State Grants, visit CSAC's website. You may also check on the status of your Cal Grant by visiting WebGrants for Students. First time visitors will need to create a user name and password to log in.
APLE (Assumption Program of Loans for Education) If you're planning on a career in teaching, this program can provide you with $11,000 to $19,000 in loan repayment benefits over the course of four years. (Note: $19,000 available only for math, science, or special education teachers.) In exchange for teaching in either a low-income school or a teacher subject shortage area, the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) will repay a certain portion of your student loans.
