Disciples on Campus Scholarships
Quick Facts At Chapman University, our strong and growing Disciple on Campus (DOC) group is made up of Disciples and UCC students from all over the world. Each DOC student is invited to join in a Covenant of participation and support of the DOC ministry offered through the office of Church Relations.
All DOC students who join in covenant with our office (99% of all Disciples and UCC students) receive Church Relations scholarships. For most DOC students, these scholarships help make possible their Chapman experience. Church Relations scholarships are given annually and vary from $2,000-$18,000 per DOC student. The amount of scholarship assistance received by students depends on a number of factors:
- The amount of annual DOC scholarship funds raised
- The number of DOC students needing scholarship assistance
- The personal and financial need of each student
- The student's participation on a regional/conference leadership team
- Having an ordained Disciple/UCC family member
In 2007, for the first time in Chapman history, the Church Relations office awarded over $1 Million in DOC scholarship support to the 114 Disciples and UCC students at Chapman. (DOC, by the way, is the largest student group at Chapman!) Much of the annual support given DOC students comes directly from Disciples and UCC churches and church members. Each year over 250 friends and 140 Disciples and UCC churches contribute to our annual DOC Scholarship Fund. It is through the generous giving of all our churches and their members that Chapman’s DOC program is widely considered to be the most dynamic Disciples/UCC ministry in the country.
