Chapman University Department of Art Student Spotlight

Laura Croswaite, a junior Graphic Design major and Advertising minor, is a designer for paintball company Paint Me Jane.  She has designed for Harrison Hospital Foundation, Sigma Delta Omega, Cowlitz Bee Association, Kitsap County Association of Realtors, Pacific Northwest Title, California Parent Teacher Alliance, and the West Sound Women's Show.  Laura currently works in the Publications department at Chapman and eventually hopes to become a creative director and part-time graphic design professor.  What does she like about Chapman?  Hands-on learning opportunities and small class sizes.

Academic Programs

The Department of Art offers degrees in the following programs:

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design
    The BFA in graphic design emphasizes conceptual design methods, appropriate aesthetics, history, writing development, verbal articulation, and training in technology. Students have opportunities to explore all aspects of graphic design, such as packaging, illustration, information design, advertising design, web design, multimedia design, and book design.


 

  • Bachelor of Arts in Art History
    The BA in Art history provides students with the practical, conceptual and methodological skills required to understand this visual communication. Art History majors work with their faculty advisor to design a program of study that reflects their personal and professional interests and inclinations.
