Samantha Minear

“The heart is the toughest part of the body.
Tenderness is in the hands.”  - Caroline Forche

In a perfect world, Samantha Minear would only talk in the classroom; outside of it she would communicate through drawing and painting.  Most at ease in the studio, she has quickly realized that the things that mean the most to her are easiest said through artwork.  Her work is always reality based and deals with ideas of memory and loss.  She is very interested in mixing traditional art practice with more feminine craft (such as quilting or lace making.)  She has shown extensively in Long Beach, LA, and even Europe (once).  Samantha earned her M.F.A. degree in 2004 from California State University Long Beach and is very happy to teach life drawing at Chapman University.
