American Consortium on European Union Studies offers a series of case studies for use in the classroom on current and enduring issues in transatlantic relations. While these resources are targeted to the post-secondary level, they can be of value as background information to teachers and to high school students in advanced classes.
+ - Center for European Studies, University of Wisconsin-Madison
The Center for European Studies is dedicated to preparing a new generation of Americans to better understand the complexities and opportunities presented by a “New Europe.” Activities and resources for K-12 teachers, journalists, business leaders, government officials and the general community include conferences; a Speakers Bureau (classroom teachers can request speakers for their classrooms); exhibits, performances, and other activities that classes can attend; and online informational resources. The Center is a member of the European Studies Alliance and Wisconsin International Institute.
+ - European Studies Council, Yale University
The European Studies Council is a recently formed interdisciplinary unit, combining the former Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (REES) program and Western European Studies (WES). Yale has the second largest university library in the world, with more than ten million volumes. European collections are vast in both humanities and social sciences. WES’s extensive outreach includes an intensive summer institute for teachers, an innovative after-school language program, and a large resource collection that is available to K-12 educators across the country.
+ - European Studies Consortium, University of Minnesota
The European Studies Consortium (ESC) brings together a variety of European Studies centers from across the University. ESC, in cooperation with other centers and departments, including the Institute for Global Studies, coordinates and supports a number of professional development workshops and summer institutes for K-16 teachers at the Minneapolis campus of the university. In collaboration with the Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA), summer institutes are offered for language teachers. ESC offers teacher stipends for interested teachers of European less-commonly-taught languages.

One of several Canadian centers focusing upon German and European Studies, the UBC Institute for European Studies has resources that can be of use to high school teachers and advanced students. Of particular interest at its website is its links page which includes links to universities; cultural, political, and academic organizations; journals and reference sites; and a category labeled “other.”
