Peace Education, maintained by the United Nations Cyberschool Bus program, brings together multiple traditions of pedagogy, theories of education and international initiatives for the advancement of peace education. Teachers and students can access a vast array of materials, including U.N. documents, curriculum and teaching units, web links, quotations, a bibliography and a listserv. Of particular note is the Student’s Guide to Peace Education.
+ - Peace Education Conference in Canada
Held annually at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, this conference is organized around a different peace education theme each year. In 2005, the theme was “Peace Pedagogy: Educating Educators to Teach Peace.”
+ - Peace First
Peace First develops three-year partnerships with schools, school districts and community agencies in order to help schools develop and sustain a culture of peace. It works in the following areas: student classroom activities (10 week curriculum K-8 and civic engagement projects), staff support and development, family support and involvement, community partnerships and volunteer training, school climate change (especially in areas of discipline and student decision-making), school-based leadership and program evaluation. Implementation training, coaching, toolkits and materials are provided.
+ - United States Institute of Peace
The education program of United States Institute of Peace addresses the needs of educators, students, scholars, international practitioners and the public to understand the complexities of international conflicts and approaches to peace. The education program provides scholarships, intensive teaching seminars, research resources and curriculum materials. It sponsors the National Peace Essay Contest, Summer Institutes for Secondary School Teachers, College and University Faculty Seminars, and the Zones of Conflict Project.

The Western Justice Center has developed an online database to help connect people with more than 1,500 professional associations, educational institutions and community organizations that provide training and resources in intergroup dialogue, cross-cultural collaboration, community-based mediation and other conflict resolution skills. The web site offers downloadable free guides for conducting intergroup dialogue.

Workable Peace is an innovative secondary school curriculum, teaching and learning project that integrates the study of intergroup conflict and the development of crucial civic and social skills into social studies and humanities classes. Workable peace gives teachers academically rigorous training for teaching about history and intergroup conflict, and provides extensive curriculum materials and resources. Workable Peace integrates the study of intergroup conflict and the development of critical thinking, problem solving and perspective-taking skill.
