What can I expect from my internship employer?

Every internship is unique however, the primary goal of any site is to create a beneficial work/learn environment. A Site supervisor should provide opportunities that promote professional growth, hands-on work and meaningful experiences to enhance academic learning. This may include involvement in staff meetings, client meetings, conference calls, client field visits, and meaningful participation in other workplace activities. Cold calls and clerical work cannot be approved for more than 25% of the work/learn experience for credit.

On the first day of your internship, your site supervisor should:

    ·          Introduce you to managers and co-workers

    ·          Orient you to the general philosophy and procedures of the organization.

    ·          Review guidelines and expectations of the workplace.

The internship site supervisor is expected to complete and sign the Internship Learning Agreement Form (see Registration Forms), complete and return the Evaluation of Student Performance, and be available for phone consultations with your faculty internship advisor.
