Internship Checklist

- Download the recommended timeline.
- Select a professor, from the department through which you want credit, to be your Faculty Internship Advisor.
- Locate and secure an approved internship site from the Career Development Center (CDC) website, faculty recommendation, Panther Connect, or your own research (will require approval from faculty internship advisor and CDC). Additionally, help is available from the Internship Coordinator in the CDC.
- Obtain internship paperwork with the CDC in Argyros Forum, 303 during drop-in hours.
-
Internship Learning Agreement Form (ILAF): agreement between the student, faculty internship advisor and employer which registers you for credit, details the internship position and learning objectives for the internship experience. Learn more about this form.
-
Internship Responsibilities Form (IRF): outlines the student’s responsibilities to both the internship program and employer . Learn more about this form.
- Work with your Faculty Internship Advisor to develop very specific learning objectives and methods for evaluation. Learning objectives stated on the ILAF should correlate with the intern’s job description.
- Return all paperwork to the CDC by the due date (see Deadlines) in order to be registered for internship credit(s). Due dates are posted on the CDC website and on the IEF.
- Meet with your faculty internship advisor once per credit to discuss the internship site experience. For a 3-credit internship, meet with your faculty internship advisor at least 3 times during the semester. The final meeting is an opportunity for the student to reflect on the internship experience and a time when the faculty internship advisor can determine whether or not the internship site is a valuable employer for future interns.
- The CDC distributes an Evaluation of Student Intern Performance to all site supervisors approximately 3 weeks prior to the end of the term. You will receive an email notifying you of evaluation distribution. Follow up with your employer during finals week to ensure your evaluation has been completed and returned to the CDC. When this evaluation is completed and returned to the CDC by the employer, a copy is forwarded to the faculty advisor to use, along with any other evaluation methods, in determining the appropriate grade for the student. Most internship are P/NP.
- Turn in a copy of your signed time log to the CDC.
- Ensure that the completed evaluation has been forwarded to your Faculty Internship Advisor so he/she can submit a final grade for you.
