» Transfer Enrollment Checklist: Fall 2020

This checklist is for those entering Chapman as a transfer student in the fall term. Please review the list of items below to be sure you are on track to begin your fall semester, and pay special attention to required steps.

If you are entering Chapman in the fall as a first-year student, please use the first-year student checklist.


First Steps After Admission

The following items should be completed soon after being admitted (if not earlier, in the case of submitting your FAFSA).

+ - Required: Activate Your My.Chapman Student Account

Shortly after receiving your offer of admission, you should receive an email from our Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) department. The email will be sent to the email address listed on your application and provides both your My.Chapman username and temporary password, as well as instructions on how to activate your Student Account.

If it has been more than two weeks since your acceptance and you have not received this email, please contact the IS&T Service Desk at (714) 997-6600 or servicedesk@chapman.edu.

+ - Required: Set Up Your PantherMail Email Account

Please be sure to set up and check your PantherMail email regularly. Once you are admitted, all official emails from Chapman (including information on your specific registration date and time) will be sent to your Chapman email account.

You can set up your new email account using the instructions outlined in the email from our IS&T department after being admitted. More information on PantherMail is available on our IS&T website.

+ - File Your FAFSA

If you are looking to receive financial aid and haven't already done so, be sure to file the 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (which covers fall 2020 through spring 2021) as soon as possible. Chapman’s code is 001164.

+ - ”Prepare for Registration” Letter Sent

Be on the lookout for an email with details about summer advising options and course registration. 

All course registration is done online in July, but you must complete academic advising prior to your assigned registration date. You will have to complete the online advising tutorial in order to schedule an individual appointment with an academic advisor.

+ - Transfer Enrollment Deposit and Housing Reservation Payment Due

Due: June 1

Applicable to incoming transfer students entering in the fall semester. You can pay your enrollment deposit and housing reservation payment in one transaction. You can pay your deposit in your Application Status Page.

+ - If Applicable: Housing Application Due

Due: June 1

Transfer students are not required to live on campus. However, if you are looking to live in campus housing, your housing application and housing reservation payment must be received by the due date to be considered complete and on-time. You can view instructions, and find a link to apply for housing, on the Applying to On-Campus Housing page.

+ - New Student Summer Welcome Receptions Begin

You and your guests are invited to meet the Chapman Family (including current students, parents, staff and alumni) at receptions all over the country. To view reception details and register to attend, visit our Summer Welcome Receptions page.

+ - Required: Complete Academic Advising

Transfer students must complete their mandatory academic advising requirement prior to course registration. If advising is not completed, you will not be able to register for courses.

+ - If Applicable: Take Math Placement Test

Any student who scored below a 570 on the SAT Math or 23 on the ACT Math (or has not completed a transferable college math course) is required to take the online Algebra Placement Exam. In addition, online placement testing is available for those who want to place into a higher level math course. You can visit the Math Placement Test webpage for more information.

+ - If Applicable: Take Foreign Language Placement Test

Students seeking higher placement (above 101 level) in a foreign language may take the placement exam. For more information, visit our Foreign Language Tests webpage.

+ - If Applicable: Submit AP, IB and Updated Exam Results

Due: June 31

Please submit all AP/IB or any updated SAT/ACT exam test results to the Office of Admission for evaluation.

+ - Required: Final College Transcripts Due

Due: June 31

Final transcripts must include all final grades through the end of spring/summer 2020. Please submit all final transcripts to the Office of Admission.

+ - Required: Submit Health Record and Examination Form

All students are required to submit the online Health Record Form to Student Health Services. You can learn more about the form, and submit online, on the Health Record Form webpage.

+ - Required: Register for Fall Classes

Incoming students will be assigned a specific date and time when their course registration opens. Those dates/times will be available in your My.Chapman.edu Student Center in early June. Online registration will take place in July.

+ - Register for New Student Transfer Orientation

You can learn more about and register for Orientation on the Orientation website.

+ - If Applicable: Housing Assignment Notification Sent

The housing assignment notification email will be sent to your Chapman email account. The email will provide housing information, including your housing assignment and roommates' names and contact information, as well as other helpful information to assist you with your move to the residence community.

+ - Required: Parking Permit Registration or Waiver Available

Registration opens in early July and is available online. You must submit a parking permit registration or parking permit waiver. If you do not submit a waiver request, you will be automatically billed for a parking permit. For more information, visit our Parking Permit page.

+ - Fall Semester Billing Statement Sent

You will receive an email notification when your billing statement is available. For more information on our billing process, visit our Student Billing page.

+ - Required: Tuition and Fees Payment Due

Due: July 20

All students must pay in full for the fall semester or enroll in a payment plan and pay the first installment. For more information on making a payment, visit our Making a Payment page.

+ - Required: Submit Student ID Photo

Submit a recent photo to be used for your Chapman University student identification card. Submitting your photo on time will ensure you receive it when you arrive on campus. You can learn more about submitting your ID on our New Student ID Cards page.

+ - If Applicable: Transfer Student Move-in Day: August 27

Transfer students who are living on-campus can begin moving into the Residence Halls.

+ - Transfer Fall Orientation Begins: August 27

All new students are expected to attend orientation.

+ - Required: Tuition & Fee Master Payment

Due: August 31

All students must complete a Tuition and Fee Master Payment Contract by the first day of the semester.

+ - Parking Fee Waiver Deadline

Due: Early September

All students are automatically billed for a parking pass. If you do not plan to park a vehicle on campus, you must complete the online waiver for a refund on your student account. For more information, visit our Parking Permit page.

+ - If Applicable: Opt-in for Health Insurance

Domestic students are not automatically billed for health insurance but can opt-in no later than the enrollment period. More information is available on the Student Health Insurance website.
