As we look forward to the fall 2020 semester, we want you to be aware of the many academic resources that continue to be available to undergraduate Chapman students to assist them in their academic success—and how best to reach these resources during this challenging time during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our students, whether working remotely or on campus, have the full support of the academic resources available. Below is a list of academic resources, including:

Do not hesitate to reach out to them. Note that during this time, the best means of contact is often email, as many Chapman staff are working remotely. Our staff should quickly respond to email, and may set up a phone or remote meeting when necessary. 

Advising

Academic Advising Center

Academic Advising is available remotely to all undergraduate students throughout the fall 2020 semester via email, scheduled appointments, virtual walk-in advising sessions, workshops and other activities.

Please visit the website for detailed information about services and specific contact people. Contact advising@chapman.edu with questions or requests for further information. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Program Advising

Program Advising is done by each academic unit/department to address specific questions and planning regarding majors and minors. 

Check the list of program advisors to find contact information for major and minor program advisors on campus. Contact information for each of the program advisors is available on that page.

For Undeclared students, the Academic Advising Center provides undeclared program advising until the major is chosen.

Tutoring

Tutoring and Learning Center

The TLC is dedicated to providing the tools for Chapman students to become independent learners and achieve their academic goals.

They offer a variety of tutoring and learning services designed to help students succeed, including one-on-one tutoring, supplemental instruction and academic mentoring. More information on all of these services is available on the TLC website.

Other questions can be directed to tutor@chapman.edu. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. PDT.

The Writing Center

The Writing Center will support to Chapman students in the fall and spring semesters.

During fall 2020, the Writing Center will be providing online writing support. Information regarding making a real-time appointment with a writing tutor, getting real-time feedback on student writing, or other information for fall 2020 can soon be found on the Writing Center's website.

Career and Professional Development

The Center for Career and Professional Development can be reached through their website, which provides contact information.

Also available is a specific Career Services and Internships website with Corona Virus Updates.

The office can be reached by email at career@chapman.edu. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.


Center for Undergraduate Excellence

The Center for Undergraduate Excellence (CUE) promotes and facilitates student-faculty mentored and collaborative research, scholarship, and creative activities.

The mentorship for fellowships and scholarships, research and creative activity support and student scholar symposia (as well as other events and special programming offered through CUE) will continue through fall 2020 through remote interaction.

Global Education

The Center for Global Education can be reached at globaled@chapman.edu and is available by phone Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. PDT at (714) 997-6830.

First-Generation Programs

First-Generation Programs are open to all first-generation undergraduate students and support the engagement, retention and sense of community for first-generation students.

During fall 2020, programming will continue and be designed for remote interaction as necessary.

Honors Program

The Honors Program is designed for academically talented and intellectually curious students who want to pursue interdisciplinary and cross-cultural studies.

More information about the program is available at the website link above. Activities for students in Honors Program will continue through fall 2020 through remote events.

Leatherby Libraries

Leatherby Libraries are physically unavailable at this time, but librarians and library staff are providing remote services and resources. Please see the Leatherby Libraries Remote Resources post or the Library Content for Online Teaching and Learning guide for additional information.

For assistance accessing library resources or for reference and instructional support, contact the Reference Desk at libweb@chapman.edu or Ask a Librarian.

Online Reference Desk Hours are Monday-Friday: 9 a.m.-p.m. as well as Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m.-5 p.m. 


Registrar’s Office

The Office of the University Registrar provides information, Registrar Services and training tools for students, faculty and staff to facilitate student academic progress at Chapman University. 

Staff are working remotely and can be contacted via email at registrar@chapman.edu. The summer Office Hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. PDT.

Students who may be considering transferring coursework to Chapman are strongly urged to consult with the policies and procedures provided on the Transfer Credit and Articulation webpage.
